Oils Sands of Canada

The world's largest known reservoir of heavy crude oil is in the Athabasca Oil Sands, Alberta, Canada, and the oil is extracted by surface mining. TransCanada proposed a pipeline to carry the crude to the U.S. Gulf Coast.
