Metal Shutter House

The exterior of the Metal Shutter House, an 11-story boutique condominium in Manhattan's West Chelsea, in New York. Metal-mesh shades completely conceal two-story-high balconies on the eight-unit all-duplex building. Designed by Shigeru Ban, an architect based in Tokyo and Paris, the very large exposures draw breezes and lights into apartments that extend from front to back of the building.
