Detail view of the Westarkade addition to the KfW bank in Frankfurt, Germany. The brightly colored panels on the building's serrated glass surface are slim flaps that pivot open to ventilate the building without the use of conventional air conditioning. It is one of many tactics designed into the building by Berlin architect Sauerbruch + Hutton to achieve very low energy use.
