Ikea Group Founder Ingvar Kamprad fled Sweden for Switzerland in the 1970s in what he said was a protest of his home country’s tax policies. He placed shares of Ikea into a Dutch foundation in the 1980s, and later put the company’s intellectual property rights into a Liechtenstein foundation.
