Exxon Buys Two Marcellus Shale Companies, Expands Gas Assets

The acquisition gives Exxon Mobil Corp. access to 317,000 acres in the Marcellus Shale, a gas-rich geologic formation that stretches beneath several eastern states, including Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
