Linzie Janis
Linzie Janis is a London-based anchor for Bloomberg Television and the host of "First Look," a program reporting on overnight news from Asia and the headlines impacting the business day ahead in Europe. Janis also co-hosts "Countdown" with Owen Thomas, tracking all the news that matters in the countdown to European market openings.
Janis leverages Bloomberg Television's extensive reporting resources to link the world's great financial centers, with live reports from Asia, Europe, the U.S., Africa and the Middle East.
Since joining Bloomberg Television in 2008, Janis has provided extensive coverage of the European debt crisis, including tracking Spain's economic struggles from strikes to stress tests to reforms, as well as critical meetings of the European Central Bank and the Bank of England. She has also interviewed a number of the world's leading CEOs, central bankers, government ministers and investors including IMF Acting Managing Director John Lipsky, Sir Martin Sorrell of WPP, Lloyd's Chairman Peter Levene, Richard Branson, SAP co-CEO Jim Hagemann Snabe, former UK Financial Services Secretary Lord Paul Myners, Marc Faber, Renault-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn, CME Group's Craig Donohue and more.
Previously, Janis served as European markets editor for Bloomberg News, where she covered the subprime mortgage crisis, Lehman Brothers' bankruptcy and the global credit crisis, including the bailouts of the British and European banking sectors.
Before joining Bloomberg, Janis was a reporter and producer at CNN International in London. There, Janis reported on critical global events including the collapse of Enron, the costs associated with the Iraq War, the 2005 terrorist attacks on London's transportation system and the Asian tsunami of 2004.
