LONDON — Leaders in Performance, the international conference dedicated to the identification, development and management of elite sporting talent, is proud to officially launch its first conference in the United States. The world-renowned conference has teamed up with Bloomberg Sports, who IMG have recently bought a stake in, to host the event in their state of the art facility in New York on 4th & 5th of June, 2013. The agenda will cover a range of topics from preparing athletes for peak performance, leadership and culture, innovation, science and technology in a series of talks and workshops to challenge, educate and inspire elite coaches, club owners and top executives.

The cutting-edge 2013 programme has been designed after a rigorous research process with the help of a diverse advisory board that includes top practitioners from New York Knicks, UK Athletics, Boston Celtics, Chelsea FC, New York Yankees, MLS, NY Rangers, UC Berkeley, Saatchi and Saatchi, US Olympic Committee. The first announced speaker is Bob Bowman, the swimming coach of Michael Phelps, the most successful Olympian of all time. Bowman has been there every step of the way for Michael Phelps – through the training regimes, mental preparation, commitment that goes into becoming the most successful Olympian in sporting history. He is set to reveal proven techniques to develop a world-class athlete, insights into the training methods that made Phelps so unique, and share his views on how to prepare an athlete for peak performance alongside a panel of other top names in sport due to be announced in the coming weeks.
The conference and networking platform will be limited to an invitation-only audience of 300 of the world’s leading practitioners with 50% from North American sport and the other half from the rest of the world. It will be the first ever international gathering of performance professionals across multiple sports to take place in the world’s largest business market.
The Leaders in Performance UK conference, hosted at Chelsea FC in October last year invited an audience of 400 top practitioners to share best practice on innovation, team Culture, technology, analytics, leadership and behaviour presented by speakers such as Stuart Lancaster, Charles van Commenee, Mark Verstegen, Gary Kirsten, Steve McClaren among many others. The content for the USA edition of the event promises to build on the success and add even more cutting edge insights and learnings.
