Bloomberg CEO Dan Doctoroff and our founder Mike Bloomberg went head to head today taking the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to a new level with hundreds of employees outside company headquarters in New York.

Dan invited employees to meet him outside 731 Lexington Avenue Tuesday and take the challenge together on Wednesday. He noted his personal connection to ALS. Both his father and one of his uncles succumbed to the disease, and Dan has been focused on helping various organizations work to find a cure.

Together with David Rubenstein and Bloomberg Philanthropies, Dan founded Target ALS, a non-profit organization supporting ALS research at various institutions, including Columbia University and Johns Hopkins University.

Dan extended the New York challenge to Bloomberg employees in New Jersey, London and Hong Kong. Earlier, via Twitter, he congratulated the Bloomberg team in Seoul, who were first to turn their buckets on themselves.

Bloomberg employees worldwide have embraced the call to action and the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Special thanks to everyone for raising awareness and for contributing to the following organizations:

Target ALS New York
ALS Association of New York
