The new edition of The Bloomberg Way, distributed to News bureaus over the past few weeks, is the definitive guide for reporting and editing business stories at Bloomberg.

In Bloomberg’s infancy, “There was no tradition of journalism at Bloomberg when Bloomberg News began in 1990, and so we had to invent a set of values. We had to invent our news judgment,” says News editor-in-chief Matt Winkler. “By 1995-96, there really was a book that could be called the Bloomberg Way.”

It’s more than a style guide. Topics in this handy reference cover a wide range of territory, from reporting on companies to why good writing matters to following the money, among many more. Included in this edition is a new chapter – The Data Advantage – on functions inspired by news reporting and expanded sections on ethics, First Word, and social media.

Copies of the new edition are available now on Amazon

Royalties from sales of The Bloomberg Way will be donated to The Committee to Protect Journalists, an independent, nonprofit organization that promotes press freedom worldwide.
