Here it is…a list of the world’s 20 richest people. You may have seen lists in the past that rank billionaires a few times a year, but they’re nothing like this.
Our methodology is transparent and our index is updated daily.
We measure the net worth of the world’s wealthiest based on changes in markets, the economy and reporting from Bloomberg journalists in 146 bureaus in 72 countries. Figures are updated every business day at 5:30 p.m. New York time after stakes in publicly traded companies are valued using the most recent closing price of shares. Valuations are converted to U.S. dollars at current exchange rates.
Below are two screen shots. The first is what Bloomberg Professional service customers see. They can access each billionaire’s profile including detailed analysis of how that person’s fortune has been tallied drawing on Bloomberg data and reporting.
The second is what can be found on Bloomberg.com, which includes each billionaire’s net worth and daily gain or loss.

In calculating net worth, we strive to provide the most transparent estimates available. Our full methodology behind the numbers is available here.
