Akzo Nobel Books $3.3B Writedown at Paints Unit

Akzo Nobel NV, the maker of Glidden and Dulux paint brands, booked a 2.5 billion-euro ($3.3 billion) writedown at its decorative paints business after a prolonged attempt to overhaul the business and weakening markets in Europe.
