Hewlett-Packard Taking $8.8 Billion Autonomy Charge

Nov. 20 (Bloomberg) -- Bloomberg's Dominc Chu and Deirdre Bolton report that Hewlett-Packard forecast fiscal first-quarter profit that missed analysts’ estimates amid a continuing slump in personal computer sales. The company also announced an impairment charge of $8.8 billion from the acquisition of Autonomy Corp. due to accounting improprieties that happened before Hewlett-Packard purchased the company.
