July 3 (Bloomberg) -- Nathan's famous hot dog eating contest will take place on Coney Island on Friday. Top speed eaters will battle to see who can eat the most dogs and buns in 10 minutes. The event has become big business with ESPN broadcasting the finals. Bloomberg BusinessWeek's Claire Suddath heads down to the site of the contest and challenges a semi-professional competitive eater to see what it takes to become a champion. The figure was 49.7 for August, matching the median estimate in a Bloomberg survey and down from 50 in July. Meanwhile, Australia left interest rates unchanged as a declining currency cushions the impact of lower commodity prices and a weaker outlook for its key trading partner.
