July 24 (Bloomberg) -- China’s State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters issued an emergency warning on July 24 after water levels along the Yangtze River became exceedingly high. A record 70,000 cubic-meters of water per second were expected to flow through Three Gorges Dam (above), the largest hydroelectric project in the world.
