American-US Airways Merger Grounded

August 25 (Bloomberg) -- The airline industry faces turbulence after the Justice Department's decision to block the merger of American & US Airways. On "Capitol Gains" airing Sunday, former American Chairman & CEO Robert Crandall tells host Peter Cook the DOJ lawsuit was a "mistake". Crandall makes the case for the merger and predicts the airlines can win in court. As the Federal Reserve faces critical policy decisions, President Obama faces his own decision on a chairman to replace Ben Bernanke. Bloomberg News reporters Hans Nichols and Craig Torres handicap the contenders and the president's likely pick. As America's wars wind down, the Pentagon is scaling back its purchases of heavy armor.
