April 14 (Bloomberg) -- Thomas A. Blanton, an oil prospector and resident of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, talks with Bloomberg's Mark Drajem about his opposition to the funding of Southern Co.'s $5.2 billion power plant under construction in Kemper County, Mississippi. The facility is the first commercial power plant in the U.S. designed to transform coal into gas, capture its own carbon dioxide and pump it underground.
