Rupkey on U.S. Initial Claims, Consumer Spending

Aug. 30 (Bloomberg) -- Chris Rupkey, chief financial economist at Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, talks about initial jobless claims for the week of Aug. 25 and personal income and spending for July. Jobless claims were little changed at 374,000 matching the upwardly revised figure from the prior week, the Labor Department reported today. Consumer spending increased 0.4 percent.
