Christie Calls Special Election for Lautenberg Seat

June 4 (Bloomberg) -- New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, a Republican, speaks at a news conference in Trenton about his decision to order a special election to fill the U.S. Senate seat left vacant by the death of Democrat Frank Lautenberg. Christie said the special primary election will be held August 13 followed by the special election on October 16. The governor also plans to appoint an interim senator by next week.
