Sept. 12 (Bloomberg) -- The 72 foot carbon-fiber catamarans can hit 50 miles per hour. They're powered by a 13-story tall computer-controlled wing sail that's larger than the wing of a jumbo airplane. Hydrofoil technology literally turns the boats into flying machines. But the winds of the San Francisco Bay may have proven to be too much for these racing yachts.
