Bill Rhodes Laments EMs Missed Liquidity Opportunity (Audio)
Bill Rhodes, senior advisor at Citigroup, president and chief executive officer at William R Rhodes Global Advisors LLC, and author of “Banker to the World: Leadership Lessons from the Frontlines of Global Finance,” says ‘pitiful growth’ in Brazil and ‘inflation pushing beyond the target’ make up the backdrop for elections due to take place October. Rhodes says many emerging markets, from Brazil to Turkey, didn’t take advantage of the liquidity sloshing around the global economy to make structural changes that would have improved growth prospects. Rhodes also expresses concern, following Fed Chair Janet Yellen’s testimony before Congress, that a continued ‘reach-for-yield’ will spark financial stability problems in the U.S. Rhodes speaks with Bloomberg’s Kathleen Hays and Vonnie Quinn on Bloomberg Radio’s "The Hays Advantage”.
