Potomac’s Valliere, Bloomberg’s Barry on Union Decision (Audio)
Greg Valliere, chief political strategist at Potomac Research Group Holdings, and Frank Barry, a Bloomberg View editor, agree that the Supreme Court’s decision finding that Illinois home health-care workers are “partial public employees” that can’t be compelled to pay union fees, as other public employees are, will have potentially far-reaching effects on the union movement broadly. They also say that while the percent of unionized workers in the U.S. economy has declined, unions still play a big role in state and local elections. Valliere and Barry, editor of the Bloomberg View article, “Court Ruling Could Be Beginning of End for Public Unions,” spoke with Bloomberg’s Kathleen Hays and Vonnie Quinn on Bloomberg Radio’s "The Hays Advantage" on July 1.
