LeBron James’s 49 Points Give Heat 3-1 Playoff Lead Against Nets
LeBron James scored 49 points and Chris Bosh hit a tiebreaking 3-pointer with 58 seconds remaining to give the Miami Heat a 102-96 win at the Brooklyn Nets in the National Basketball Association playoffs.
The victory last night at the Barclays Center gave the two-time defending champion Heat a three-games-to-one lead in the second-round series.
Game 5 in the best-of-seven series is set for tomorrow night in Miami. The winner of the series will face the Indiana Pacers or the Washington Wizards for a spot in the NBA Finals.
The 49 points tied James’s playoff career high. He missed a free throw in the final two seconds that would have given him 50.
“At the same time I’m in the momemnt, I understand history and it would have been good to put up 50,” James said in a televised interview.
James scored 25 points in the first half as Miami took a 56-49 lead at the intermission. Miami’s margin was down to three points at the end of three quarters, and the Nets tied the game in the final period.
The game was tied at 94-94 when Bosh, who finished with 12 points, hit a 3-pointer from the corner. Ray Allen added four free throws in the final 10 seconds for Miami.
