JinkoSolar to Supply 35 Megawatts for Project in Arizona
Construction on the Avalon Solar project in Pima County is expected to begin this quarter and will be complete by year-end, Shangrao, China-based JinkoSolar said today in a statement. Power will be sold to Tucson Electric Power Co. under a 20-year contract.
Avalon will be built on a 500-acre (202-hectare) site selected to comply with an U.S. Environmental Protection Agency program promoting clean-energy projects on abandoned land.
The project is JinkoSolar’s second with the Eagle, Idaho-based developer Clenera, after completing the 23-megawatt Westlands Solar Farms project in February. Swinerton Inc. built that solar farm, in Fresno County, California, and is also the contractor on the Avalon plant.
