Marubeni, Technip Preferred Wind Farm Builder for Mainstream
Mainstream Renewable Power Ltd. an Irish clean energy developer, picked Marubeni Corp. (8002) and Technip Offshore Wind Ltd. as preferred contractors to build its 450-megawatt wind farm off the coast of Scotland.
Munich-based Siemens AG (SIE) was picked as preferred supplier of wind turbines, Dublin-based Mainstream said in a statement yesterday. The selected companies will enter exclusive negotiations with Mainstream.
The Neart na Gaoithe Offshore Wind Farm, to be set up off the coast of Fife in Scotland, is expected to start generating power in 2017, according to the statement. Technip Offshore has offices in Aberdeen, Scotland, and is involved in projects across the U.K. and Europe, according to its website.
Marubeni, a Tokyo-based trading company, announced in August that it would buy about 25 percent of Mainstream, becoming the company’s second-largest shareholder.
