Kenya Plants Seeds for a Silicon Savannah
As Kenya struggles with 40 percent unemployment, the African country is pinning its hopes on technology to boost its economy. Bloomberg West went on a safari to Silicon Savannah in Nairobi, Kenya.
The roots of a tech industry are starting to sprout there as mobile application developers create local hits. By 2025, Kenya expects to open Techno City, a community near Nairobi where 200,000 tech professionals will live and work. The project has already attracted interest from Samsung Electronics, Huawei Technologies and BlackBerry.
