Czech 2014 Power Gains Most in Two Weeks in Line With Germany

Power for next year in the Czech Republic increased the most in almost two weeks, tracking gains in prices in Germany, Europe’s largest market.

Electricity for next-year delivery in the Czech Republic Poland increased as much as 1 percent, the biggest gain since Feb. 8, to 41.90 euros ($55.30) a megawatt-hour, broker data compiled by Bloomberg show. Year-ahead power in Germany rose as much as 1.2 percent to 42.70 euros a megawatt-hour.

Day-ahead electricity on the coupled markets of the Czech Republic and Slovakia fell 3.1 percent to 48.60 euros a megawatt-hour in a daily auction, according to the countries’ market operators. Hungarian day-ahead power settled 3.2 percent lower, also at 48.60 euros a megawatt-hour.

In Poland, power for next-day delivery decreased 3.3 percent to 168.20 zloty ($53.37) a megawatt-hour, broker data compiled by Bloomberg show.
