Gran Tierra Confirms Kidnapping of Colombian Contractors
Three contractors providing services to Gran Tierra Energy Inc. (GTE) were “illegally detained” in the Putumayo Basin in southern Colombia, the company said today in a statement on PR Newswire.
RCN Radio cited a local government official who said the three workers were kidnapped by guerrillas from the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC.
Gran Tierra is a Calgary-based oil producer, with operations in Colombia and Argentina. The company has early stage exploration operations in Cauca, according to a presentation on its website.
