Coal export prices at South Africa’s Richards Bay, the continent’s biggest terminal for shipping the fuel, declined to their lowest level in a month.
Coal for immediate delivery dropped $1.60, or 1.8 percent, in the week to Jan. 11 to $87.34 a metric ton, the lowest price since Dec. 14, according to IHS McCloskey data on Bloomberg.
The fuel is quoted on a free-on-board basis, which excludes delivery costs.
