Three Russian Climbers Found Dead in Georgian Mountains, TV Says
Three Russian mountain climbers were found dead on one of the highest peaks in the Caucasus mountains today after an avalanche, broadcaster Rustavi-2 reported.
The three bodies were brought to the capital, Tbilisi, today from the Kazbegi region, according to Rustavi-2. A fourth climber, a teenager, was discovered yesterday and is being treated for unspecified injuries at a local hospital.
The four climbers began their ascent to Mkinvartsveri, also known as Kazbegi Mountain, at about 5,047 meters (16,558 feet), on Jan. 2.
