Renewables’ Role in Power Plant Closures Overstated, SocGen Says

The role of renewables in influencing European utilities when deciding to build or close power stations may be overstated, according to Societe Generale SA. (GLE)
“The contribution to utility profits from the balancing market is becoming more important,” Alberto Ponti, managing director and head of European utilities at the French bank, told delegates at a conference in Amsterdam.
