Japanese Bought Net 401.9 Billion Yen Overseas Debt Last Week

Japanese investors were net buyers of foreign bonds during the week ended Nov. 16 according to figures based on reports from designated major investors released by the Ministry of Finance in Tokyo.

Japanese investors bought 401.9 billion yen ($4.9 billion) in overseas bonds and notes, sold 41.8 billion yen in overseas stocks and bought 23.3 billion yen in overseas short term securities. That results in a total net purchase of 383.4 billion yen.

Foreign investors sold 60.4 billion yen in Japanese bonds, bought 133.3 billion yen in stocks, and bought 1036.2 billion yen in short term securities, resulting in a total net purchase of 1109.2 billion yen.
