EU Sells 4 Million Carbon Permits for 2013 at 7.30 Euros on EEX

The European Union sold more than 4 million EU spot carbon permits for the third phase of the region’s carbon market, which starts in 2013, at 7.30 euros a metric ton in an auction on the European Energy Exchange AG.
The sale ended at 3 p.m. Berlin time. EU spot permits for the second phase of the bloc’s market, which ends in 2012, were bid at 7.33 euros and offered at 7.43 euros a ton at the same time on Caisse des Depots et des Consignations and NYSE Euronext’s (NYX) Paris-based Bluenext SA exchange.
