The Boston Red Sox fired manager Bobby Valentine after his only season with the franchise yielded its worst record in 47 years.
Valentine, 62, was let go one day after the team posted its first losing season since 1997, the Red Sox said in a statement. Boston’s record of 69-93 was its worst since a 62-100 mark in 1965.
