Japan’s Prime Minister Met Briefly With Chinese President Hu
Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda met briefly today with Chinese President Hu Jintao on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in Vladivostok, Russia, Japan’s government said in a statement.
Hu clarified to Noda China’s stance on the current Sino- Japan relationship and on the Diaoyu island, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on its website today.
Asia’s two biggest economies have been in a dispute over islands claimed by both countries. The islands, lying in the East China Sea near oil and gas reserves, are known as Diaoyu in Chinese and Senkaku in Japanese.
