New York Subway Stations to Get Wireless Internet Service

New York’s subway stations will receive wireless Internet service as part of a multiyear rollout plan that will eventually allow smartphone, tablet and computer users to access the Web while waiting for the train.

The Wi-Fi service, provided by Boingo Wireless Inc. (WIFI), will be available throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx and Queens, Boingo said today in a statement. The service will be available to Boingo subscribers and customers of its partners, which inlcude Verizon Wireless and Sprint Nextel Corp. (S)
