Taiwan Stocks: AU Optronics, China Petroleum, Hon Hai Precision
The benchmark Taiex Index rose 0.2 percent to 7,656.67.
AU Optronics Corp. (2409) (2409 TT) dropped 1 percent to NT$14.55. The flat-panel maker’s first-quarter consolidated revenue was NT$81.1 billion ($2.75 billion), compared with NT$93.2 billion a year earlier, according to a statement to the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
China Petrochemical Development Corp. (1314) (1314 TT), a chemical producer, jumped 6.9 percent to NT$33.5, the biggest gain since Jan. 5. The board approved plans to pay a cash dividend of NT$1.75 a share for 2011 and a stock dividend of 17.5 percent, it said in statements to the Taiwan stock exchange yesterday.
Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. (2317) (2317 TT) gained 3.2 percent to NT$113.50. Sales at the world’s largest electronics maker rose 30 percent in March from a year earlier, according to an exchange filing.
Sino-American Silicon Products Inc. (5483) (5483 TT) surged 6.9 percent to NT$52.70, the steepest gain since Jan. 30. The provider of silicon used in solar cells reported March sales at NT$398 million, compared with NT$369 million in February, according to exchange filings.
