Harlequins Beat Saracens Before Record Rugby Crowd at Wembley
Harlequins beat Saracens 24-19 in England’s Premiership before the largest crowd ever to watch a club rugby match.
The game’s attendance of 83,671 at Wembley Stadium in London, broke the world record of 82,208 from the 2009 Heinken Cup semifinal between Leinster and Munster at Croke Park in Dublin. It also topped the Premiership mark of 82,000 set by Harlequins and Saracens at Twickenham Stadium in London in December.
George Lowe, Jordan Turner-Hall and Danny Care touched down as Harlequins outscored Saracens three tries to one. Richard Wigglesworth scored the Saracens try and Owen Farrell kicked 12 points.
The victory extends Harlequins lead at the top of the standings to six points over Saracens and Leicester Tigers.
