Einhorn’s Greenlight Buys Yahoo, RIM Shares While Selling CVS
David Einhorn’s Greenlight Capital Inc. bought shares of Yahoo! Inc. (YHOO) and Research In Motion Ltd. (RIM) during the fourth quarter while exiting positions in CVS Caremark Corp. (CVS) and Marathon Oil Corp. (MRO)
Greenlight also built new positions in Liberty Media Corp., OmniVision Technologies Inc. (OVTI), Delphi Automotive Plc and CA Inc. (CA), a Securities and Exchange Commission filing today showed. The hedge fund sold all its shares of Ingram Micro Inc. (IM) and Synaptics Inc. (SYNA)
The New York-based hedge fund increased the proportion of its equity investments in technology stocks and companies that rely on consumer discretionary spending by 8.1 percentage points and 6.5 percent, respectively, data compiled by Bloomberg show. It cut financial and health-care stock weightings by 5.4 percentage points and 3.2 percentage points, the data show.
Einhorn also bought shares of Dell Inc. (DELL) and Xerox Corp. (XRX) in the fourth quarter as part of a bet on undervalued U.S. stocks, according to a letter to investors dated Jan. 17. Today’s filing confirmed those additions.
