Israel Stocks: Clal Biotechnology, Partner, Sunflower, Tower
Israel’s TA-25 index declined for the first time since Feb. 6, retreating 0.1 percent to 1,119.49 at the 4:30 p.m. close in Tel Aviv. Investors traded about 1.1 billion shekels ($295 million) of shares and convertible securities, according to bourse data.
The following stocks rose or fell today. Symbols are in parentheses.
Clal Biotechnology Industries Ltd. (CBI) advanced the most since Jan. 29, climbing 1.1 percent to 15.95 shekels. The investor in biotechnology companies said its 20 percent-owned Gamida Cell unit completed enrollment of patients for a Phase III clinical trial for StemEx, a cord-blood stemcell product for leukemia and lymphoma.
Koor Industries Ltd. (KOR) soared 9.2 percent to 52.40 shekels, the highest since Aug. 3. Koor agreed to enter talks for Discount Investment Corp. (DISI) to buy the rest of the holding company for cash. Discount Investment, which owns 62.67 percent of Koor, according to Bloomberg data, slipped 0.1 percent to 24.83 shekels.
Partner Communications Co. (PTNR) gained 2.2 percent to 32.73 shekels, the highest close since Jan. 23. UBS AG said speculation of a minority buyout or a stake sale in Israel’s second-largest mobile-telephone company may help shares in the near term.
Sunflower Sustainable Investments Ltd. (SNFL) advanced 3 percent to 8 shekels, the highest level since Nov. 30. The developer of photo-voltaic solar-energy projects said a unit will buy solar parks in Spain for 7.5 million euros ($9.9 million).
Tower Semiconductor Ltd. (TSEM) surged to the highest level in more than six months, jumping 6.7 percent to 3.22 shekels. The maker of customized chips said its Japanese unit has been chosen to get a grant from Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
WideMed Ltd. (WDMD) increased 1.9 percent to 0.423 shekel, the highest since Jan. 23. The provider of bio-medical signal diagnostics and treatments said it got an order for a system from a U.S. hospital.
