Egypt Sues Germany’s Konrad Adenauer Foundation Chief, FTD Says
Andreas Jacobs, the head of Germany’s Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Cairo, is among 44 people associated with non-governmental organizations being sued by Egyptian authorities, the Financial Times Deutschland reported.
A list of people who will be put on trial for financing and running what Egyptian prosecutors say are illegal NGOs also includes Sam LaHood, son of U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, and 18 other U.S. citizens, the newspaper said.
The Konrad Adenauer Foundation is a political foundation linked to Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union party. It is involved in about 200 projects in more than 120 countries, according to its website.
