Thai Stocks: Precious Shipping, Minor, PTT Exploration, Thoresen

Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Thailand trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the 4:30 p.m. close in Bangkok.

The SET Index (SET) fell 0.7 percent to 1,044.81, trimming its weekly gain to 0.8 percent.

Bulk shipping companies: Precious Shipping Pcl (PSL) , Thailand’s biggest shipping company by market value, dropped 0.6 percent to 16.70 baht. Thoresen Thai Agencies Pcl (TTA) slipped 1.4 percent to 20.9 baht.

The Baltic Dry Index, a measure of shipping costs for commodities, slid 7.4 percent to 1,105 yesterday, the lowest level since Feb. 9, according to the Baltic Exchange in London.

Minor International Pcl (MINT) , the nation’s biggest hotel operator, fell 3.4 percent to 11.4 baht, the most since Nov. 21. The U.S. Embassy warned of a possible terrorist attack in Thailand’s capital and urged citizens to exercise caution in public areas, according to a statement today.

PTT Exploration & Production Pcl (PTTEP TB), the nation’s biggest publicly traded oil explorer, lost 2.2 percent to 174.5 baht, the largest decline since Dec. 15. Crude oil fell 1.8 percent yesterday to $99.10 in New York, the lowest close since Dec. 30.
