Hurricane Kenneth With 110 MPH Winds Weakens Far Off Baja California

Hurricane Kenneth’s top winds dropped to Category-2 strength hundreds of miles southwest of Baja California, Mexico, the National Hurricane Center said.

The late-season hurricane about 840 miles (1,350 kilometers) from the tip of Baja California was moving west in the Pacific with 110 mph winds at 1 a.m. Los Angeles time, down from 145 mph yesterday and Category 4 on the five-step Saffir- Simpson scale, the center said.

The storm is no threat to land and forecast to weaken to a tropical storm tomorrow and a depression the following day, the Miami-based NHC said. The hurricane season runs through Nov. 30.
