Jim Thome Agrees to Return to Philadelphia Phillies, AP Reports
Designated-hitter Jim Thome has agreed to a one-year contract to return to the Philadelphia Phillies, the Associated Press reported, citing a person familiar with the negotiations it didn’t identify.
Thome, 41, who hit a career 604 home runs, will receive $1.25 million from the Major League Baseball club if he passes a physical today, AP said.
Thome, who played with the Phillies from 2003-2005, was acquired by the Cleveland Indians in August from the Minnesota Twins, the wire service said.
Thome is a .277 hitter with 1,674 runs batted in during his 21-year career.
