JPMorgan’s Sasaki Top Tokyo Currency Analyst in J-Money Ranking

By Kazumi Miura - Nov 1, 2011

Tohru Sasaki, head of Japan rates and foreign-exchange research at JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM) in Tokyo, was chosen as a top currency fundamentals analyst in an annual survey by J-Money, a Japanese financial magazine.

Sasaki, who moved up from third place last year, was followed in the ranking by Osamu Takashima, chief currency strategist at Citigroup Inc. (C) in Tokyo. Minori Uchida, a senior analyst at Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Ltd., and Atsushi Kobayashi, head of foreign-exchange sales at BNP Paribas in Tokyo, were tied for third.

J-Money, previously known as the Japanese version of the Euromoney magazine, based the ranking on an August survey of 797 institutional investors in the Tokyo foreign-exchange market. The ranking was published in its Autumn 2011 edition.

The top financial firms in terms of currency trading were Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, No. 1 for a sixth-straight year, followed by Mizuho Financial Group Inc. (8411), Deutsche Securities Inc., JPMorgan Chase and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp.
