Finnish Technology Industry Managers Start Strike Over Wage Deal
Finland’s technology industry supervisors and managers will go on strike at 6 a.m. tomorrow after rejecting a wage deal.
About 10,000 salaried workers will strike until a pay deal is reached, the Federation of Professional and Managerial Staff, or YTN, and the employer organization the Federation of Finnish Technology Industries said on their websites. Both sides rejected a proposal by State Mediator Esa Lonka tonight.
Companies affected by the strike include ABB Ltd. (ABBN), Boliden AB (BOL), Kone Oyj (KNEBV), Konecranes Oyj (KCR1V), Metso Oyj (MEO1V), Outotec Oyj (OTE1V), Rautaruukki Oyj (RTRKS), Sandvik AB (SAND) and Waertsilae Oyj.
If the dispute isn’t settled by Nov. 7, the strike will expand to 25,000 workers including Finnish staff at Nokia Oyj (NOK1V), Nokia Siemens Networks and Siemens AG. (SIE) Metal industry workers struck a wage deal on Oct. 25 after a four-day strike.
