Israeli Stocks: Alon Holdings Blue Square and Israel Chemicals
Israel’s TA-25 Index dropped for a second day, declining 0.7 percent to 1,120.17 at 12:06 p.m. in Tel Aviv. Local markets will shut early, at 2:45 p.m., for a holiday and remain closed until Oct. 23. The benchmark has gained 3.3 percent this week.

Alon Holdings Blue Square Israel Ltd. (BSI IT) headed for the highest close since Sept. 21, increasing 2 percent to 21.42 shekels. The U.S.-traded shares of the country’s second-largest supermarket chain jumped 6.1 percent to $5.74, or 20.96 shekels, yesterday after workers at its biggest competitor Shufersal Ltd. demanded talks on job security.
Israel Chemicals Ltd. (ICL) , the company that extracts minerals from the Dead Sea to make fertilizers, dropped for the first time in three days, retreating 1.4 percent to 42.97 shekels. Corn futures declined as Chinese economic growth slowed, raising concern that demand for agricultural products may decline.
