Green Bay Packers Defeat New Orleans Saints 42-34 in NFL Season’s Opener
The Green Bay Packers beat the New Orleans Saints 42-34 as the National Football League regular season got under way with a matchup of the past two Super Bowl champions.
Randall Cobb got two touchdowns in his NFL debut for the Packers, including a record-tying 108-yard kickoff return, at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin, tonight.
Greg Jennings, Jordy Nelson, James Starks and John Kuhn also scored for the Packers, while Robert Meachem,Darren Sproles, Devery Henderson and Jimmy Graham got touchdowns for the Saints.
Green Bay beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-25 Feb. 6 to win a fourth Super Bowl and first in 14 years. A year earlier, the Saints downed the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 for their sole Super Bowl title.
There are 13 more games Sept. 11, with the New England Patriots facing the Miami Dolphins and Oakland Raiders visiting the Denver Broncos a day later to conclude opening week play.
