Absolute Software, Research In Motion: Canadian Equity Preview
Shares of the following companies may have unusual moves in Canadian trading.
Absolute Software Corp. (ABT) : The maker of anti-theft software reported breaking even in the fourth quarter, excluding certain items. Analysts had forecast a loss of 3 Canadian cents a share, according to the average estimate in a Bloomberg survey.
Discovery Air Inc. (DA/A) (DA/A CN): The defense contractor and charter airline received a “buy” rating in new coverage from Chris Murray, an analyst at PI Financial Corp.
Open Text Corp. (OTC) : Canada’s largest software company may move after Hewlett-Packard Co. (HPQ) agreed to buy Autonomy Corp. (AU/ LN), a Cambridge, England-based software maker, for $10.3 billion. Open Text shares rallied 6 percent yesterday after HP said it was in talks to purchase Autonomy.
Research In Motion Ltd. (RIM) : The BlackBerry maker had its rating raised to “hold” from “underperform” by Peter Misek, an analyst at Jefferies Group Inc.
