Thailand Stocks: Airports of Thailand, AJ, Siam City, Thaicom
Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Thailand trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the 12:30 p.m. break in Bangkok.
The SET Index fell 3.76, or 0.4 percent, to 1,072.74, the first decline in four days. The gauge has dropped 1.9 percent in May, headed for its first decline in fourth months.
MSCI Index changes: Airports of Thailand Pcl (AOT) , Thailand’s biggest airfield operator, climbed 2 percent to 39 baht, set for the highest close since Jan. 5. Siam City Cement Pcl (SCCC) , the second-biggest cement maker, rose 3.2 percent to 227 baht, bound for the steepest advance since Sept. 27. Vinythai Pcl (VNT) gained 1.2 percent to 16.8 baht.
The three companies will join the MSCI Thailand Index after the close today, MSCI Inc. said in a May 16 statement.
AJ Plast Pcl (AJ) , a Thai producer of packaging films, increased 1.9 percent to 26.5 baht, halting a three-day decline. The company’s board approved a plan to invest 750 million baht ($25 million) for the purchase of new machinery, it said in a regulatory filing.
Thaicom Pcl (THCOM) , the Thai satellite monopoly, advanced 3.1 percent to 8.45 baht, on course for the highest close since Aug. 30. The company’s board approved a plan to invest as much as $160 million in a new satellite, it said in a regulatory filing. Orbital Sciences Corp. will build the medium- sized satellite and Space Exploration Technologies Corp. will be responsible for the launch, which is expected around the second quarter of 2013, it said.
Vibhavadi Medical Center Pcl (VIBHA) dropped 2.9 percent to 6.65 baht, bound for the steepest decline since May 10. Vibhavadi denied a report that it is in the process of acquiring another company, according to a regulatory filing. It didn’t specify where was the report was published.
