Sunoco Delays Marcus Hook Cat Cracker Startup, Official Says
Sunoco told the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection earlier today that a fluid catalytic cracker won’t return to operation today, according to Lynda Rebarchak, a spokeswoman for the department’s southeast regional office.
A plant flare went out late yesterday and refinery workers are attempting to relight the flare, which must occur prior to the unit returning to operation, she said.
Previously Sunoco told the emissions regulator that the plant might be back in operation today, Rebarchak said in an April 1 e-mail.
The Marcus Hook refinery has a capacity of 194,000 barrels a day, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
